The Huguenots: Their Settlement, Churches, and Industries in England and Ireland chronicles the re-settlement of the Huguenots in England and Ireland. The Huguenots were Europeans, primarily French, who followed Protestant faiths during a time when the Roman Church dominated religious and political life in Europe. The migration was one of the most important movements of skilled workers and professionals out of mainland Europe due to religious persecution. There were two major movements of Huguenots. The first being mostly of Flemish and French Protestants during the latter half of the sixteenth century. The second major migration happened during the final decades of the seventeenth century. Many more Huguenots migrated individually or in small groups throughout the period. The final chapter deals with further migration of Huguenots to North America.
