Coilbound Edition

This book includes transcriptions of the memorial stones that were standing during August 1985. The dates recorded on the stones range from 1780 (earliest birthdate recorded) to 1840 (earliest death dates recorded) to 1985 (latest death dates recorded). Burials in Dewar Cemetery began in the 1840s, with greatest number of burials per year being between 1870 and 1985.

While preparing this 2023 edition we discovered that the 1986 edition didn't include all of the content that was prepared for the book in 1985. Included with the original master was a statistical analysis of the interred plus two additional indexes which include the vital statistics of the interred in columnar format. The first is a statistical Index in alphabetical order of surname then given name. The other statiscical index is sorted by gravestone number. Though these extra methods of presenting information may not be critical to all researchers, we elected to include it in this 2023 edition for those of us who can never get enough detail.

This publication has extra value to researchers because it contains transcriptions that were done decades ago.... some stones may no longer exist nor be easily readable today. The transcribers published the results in 1986. There are no burials recorded in this book since 1985

The volunteers who recorded the memorial stones were: Fern Small, Darell Small, Mary Rayburn, Allan Rayburn, Gordon Olmstead, Dorothy Olmstead, Betty Mitchell, Helen McLean, Norah LaRocque, Ken Collins, John Carruthers & Dolly Allen who were members of Ottawa Branch, Ontario Genealogical Society
