This cemetery recording was done by Elizabeth M Gordon and friends in the spring of 1974. It was updated to include burials between December 1974 and March 1976. Identification of unmarked graves was made by searching records of the Cemetery Board, and parish records of Christ Church, Ashton and St John's Anglican Church, Richmond in addition to the parish records of St Thomas, Stanley's Corners. The work was the first manuscript published by Ottawa Branch OGS in 1977. This reprint is dedicated to the memory of Elizabeth M Gordon , who died in the spring of 1986. Her contribution to research in Goulbourn Township will ever be appreciated.

About the St. Thomas Anglican Church and Cemetery at Stanley's Corners (formerly Rathwell's Corners):
"As early as the 1860's, the little community of an hotel, store, blacksmith and shoemaker was known as Rathwell's Corners.

Burials in the cemetery were made as early as 1858 and 1859. It was around the turn of the century that burial records started to use the terms "Stanley's Corners" or "St. Thomas Church".

On June 26, 1964, the church was struck by lightning and destroyed by fire. The gutted building remained standing until August 1969 when it was sold by public auction to ·Mr. Emery Smith, one of the parishioners. A pile of rubble was the only landmark to remain until June 1973 when a memorial was placed inside the gate entrance which reads - "This Memorial Commemorate's The Site Of St. Thomas' Church - Stanley's Corners Anglican Church of Canada. Originally The United Church of England & Ireland. Built in 1866. Destroyed By Fire June 26, 1964."

The replacement church was built in Stittsville. Its opening service was held in 1970, with the the site of the original church being repurposed for additional burials.
