This book is a detailed genealogy of the descendants, ancestors and connected families of Martin Waldorf U.E. (1740-1785) who is the only known Waldorf to flee to Upper Canada (Ontario) as a United Empire Loyalist after the American Revolution. The Waldorfs were early German settlers in New Jersey. Martin Waldorf lost his New Jersey land as a result of  remaining loyal to the British Crown during the revolution. He settled in the Newington/Osnabruck area in Stormont County, Upper Canada, creating a branch of the family whose descendants are located across Canada and beyond. The extended Waldorf lines include Waldorfs both in Canada and the United States. The genealogy reaches back to Germany but only covers one generation there.

A large team of Waldorf family researchers from both Canada and the United States worked with Duncan MacDonald to complete this work. Mr MacDonald included many hand drawn genealogy charts to compliment the pages of generation by generation explanation of individuals and dates of births, marriages, deaths and the locations where the events occured when known. The printed Waldorf genealogy section was created using a genealogy software program. That means that the structure/organization of information is easy to follow and will be familiar to many.

Photographs of family members are included in the book, plus an Index to the Waldorf genealogy is included, however the hand-drawn family tree charts are not indexed. A map of Washington Township, New Jersey which outlines properties and includes property owners' names, is helpful to understand the geography.

Contents include:
  • Introduction - The Waldorf Family
  • The Family Genealogy
  • Index to The Family Genealogy
  • Waldorf Family Tree hand drawn charts by author (MacDonald)
  • Historic Map of Washington Township, New Jersey (with property boundaries and names)

NOTE about print quality:
GlobalGenealogy.com acquired MacDonald Research Centre after the passing of its founder and primary transcriber/compiler, Duncan MacDonald. We are pleased to make his books available under the new MacDonald Research imprint. Each book has been reprinted as it was prepared by Mr. MacDonald, without corrections or additions. Modern technology helped us reproduce the original work in as-good-as, or better quality as that which was originally published. Much of MacDonald's original work was created on a typewriter. His well-worn "masters" were made on a photocopier. We've cleaned them up as much as possible without re-keying all of the content resulting in books that are useful and complete, but of a print quality that reflects the technology of the time in which they were orignally published.
