This parish was established January 6th 1904 by Rt. Rev. Alexander Macdonell, Bishop of Alexandria with Rec. J. M. Foley as its first Pastor. St. Joseph's derived its membership from the surrounding parishes of St. Margarets, Glennevis, and St. Mary's. This publication includes extractions from the first two registers of the parish, covering the years of 1904 to 1925.

This book was originally compiled and published by the MacDonald Research Centre in Brockville, Ontario in 2005. This new edition has been published in both hardcover and eBook-on-CD formats . Other than page realignment, cleanup of the original master, new cover, title page and ISBN -- the content of the book is a complete reprint of the original work.

Book contents include:
  • Introduction
  • Birth, marriage and death extractions 1904-1925
  • Index
Index pages:

Use the following index to see if the person that you seek is listed (searchable). Two examples (baptism & marriage) of parish register transcriptions are located at the top of the first page -- then the Index continues for the next 60 pages. The resolution of online document has been greatly reduced to facilitate faster loading when viewed online. The printed book and eBook-on-CD are both produced at high resolution. Some history of St. Joseph's Parish: St. Joseph's Parish in Lancaster, Ontario was established Jan 6 1904 by Rt. Rev. Alexander Macdonell,Bishop of Alexandria, with Rev J.M. Foley, as its first pastor. As St. Joseph's Parish derived its members from St.Margarets, Glennevis and St.Mary's, Williamstown, baptisms, marriages and deaths anticiding Jan 6th 1904 are recorded in the parochial registers of Glennevis or Williamstown.

There are at least three Registers for this parish. The author deals with the two earliest in this book. The first register was in especially poor shape with many loose pages and some in very frail condition. It is fortunate that these older registers were indexed before this valuable information was lost.

This book is a goldmine for those seeking information about the parishioners of St, Joseph's Roman Catholic Parish, Lancaster, Ontario between 1904 and 1925.

NOTE about print quality:
GlobalGenealogy.com acquired MacDonald Research Centre after the passing of its founder and primary transcriber/compiler, Duncan MacDonald. We are pleased to make his books available under the new MacDonald Research imprint. Each book has been reprinted as it was prepared by Mr. MacDonald, without corrections or additions. Modern technology helped us reproduce the original work in as-good-as, or better quality as that which was originally published. Much of MacDonald's original work was created on a typewriter. His well-worn "masters" were made on a photocopier. We've cleaned them up as much as possible without re-keying all of the content resulting in books that are useful and complete, but of a print quality that reflects the technology of the time in which they were orignally published.
