Choosing preferred parents
If you have entered more than one set of parents, you will want to select preferred parents. This tells Family Tree Maker which set of parents to open by default. You may want to select preferred parents so that a daughter is associated with her natural father and not her step-father, for instance.
To select an individual's preferred parents:
1. In Family View, select the appropriate child.
2. From the People menu, select Other Parents.
3. In the Parents list, click the names of the parents that you want to be the preferred parents.
4. Click the Make the highlighted parents the preferred parents button.
5. Click OK when you've made your selection.
You can change your preferred parents selection at any time by repeating the five steps above.
