SASKATCHEWAN

Official civil registration began in Saskatchewan in 1905. There are some marriages dating back to 1895. Again, please remember that records for the early years will be incomplete. The Vital Statistics Unit holds records that date somewhat earlier than 1905. They can be contacted at:

HISTORIC RECORDS
For other historic Saskatchewan vital records (not civil registration) researchers are advised to contact the Saskatchewan Archives. The records in the Archives' collection date back to the territorial period (1870s to 1905) when Battleford and then Regina were the capitals of the North West Territories and when the Territories included what is now Saskatchewan, Alberta and northern Manitoba.
