David Morris as Robert Land
David Morris as Robert Land Esq.
Soldier, Spy, and First Settler of Hamilton, Ontario

Popular historical re-enactor, David Morris, presents his historically accurate one-man show as early Ontario settler, Robert Land Esq.. Mr. Morris' interpretation of Robert Land is entertaining and educational for everyone from children to adults.

Robert Land has a remarkably interesting story. Born in 1736, Land was a British loyalist who was living in colonial New York at the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War in 1776. His family, underwent great persecution at the hands of his American patriot neighbours - an experience shared by many loyalists during the same period. While serving as a messenger for the British, Land was dealt a particularly hard blow when he discovered his homestead in ashes and his family missing. His story ends in 1818, however, on a rather surprising note.

David Morris' monologue covers Robert Land's experiences from the beginning of the American Revolution through the conflict, the British loss of the colonies, to Land's subsequent migration and settlement in Upper Canada (Ontario).

Morris breathes life into the character of Robert Land, using humorous anecdotes and startling historical facts. The colourful personality of Robert Land shines through. David Morris knows how to make history interesting for all ages.
