Column published: 29 September 2006
By: Rick Roberts,   Biography & Archived Articles

According to a family member, prominent genealogist, Ronald "Ryan" Taylor passed away sometime after Sunday evening Sept 24, 2006.

Ryan had been in Toronto to tape the final episodes of a new TV show that begins running on History channel next month (Ancestors in the Attic). He was scheduled on a return flight to Fort Wayne, Indiana early Monday morning however he didn't make that flight. His luggage was still at the hotel the following day.

Ryan Taylor, c2002 Taylor became the subject of an active missing person's investigation by the Toronto police service. His body, discovered in the Niagara River later in the week, was unofficially identified by his family on Thursday. Police services will make an official declaration of identity upon conclusion of the coronor's examination.

The genealogical community will greatly miss Ryan's friendship, and his willingness to share his considerable knowledge of genealogical and historical topics with others.
