Completeley searchable database of persons who appear in the 1901 Scotland census. Includes transcription of all details for all family members and links to images of the original census records. There are many transcription errors in this database. We recommend that you take the extra step of viewing the original document online, to confirm the transcription.

- General Record Office of Scotland ( $ ) General Register Office for Scotland, National Archives of Scotland, Court of the Lord Lyon, Scotland's People. General Register Office for Scotland (GROS) is part of the devolved Scottish Administration, responsible for the registration of births, marriages, civil partnerships, deaths, divorces, and adoptions. They are the main source of family history records.

and descriptions of historical events associated with Scotland. With approximately 13620
detailed entries, the Gazetteer is already the largest Scottish resource
available on the web, and is growing constantly
- Statistical Accounts of Scotland ( free ) EDINA & Edinburgh University Data Library .
The Statistical Accounts of Scotland are essential sources for the study of Scotland's past. The 'Old' Statistical Account (1791-99), under the direction of Sir John Sinclair of Ulbster, and the 'New' Statistical Account (1834-45) offer uniquely rich and detailed parish reports for the whole of Scotland, covering a vast range of topics including agriculture, education, trades, religion and social customs.
- Scottish Handwriting ( free ) The Scottish Archive Network Ltd. The website offers online tuition in palaeography for historians, genealogists and other researchers who have problems reading manuscript historical records written in Scotland in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries. The emphasis of the website is on practical help to improve the palaeographical skills, rather than on the academic study of Scottish handwriting.
