Most family historians have felt the lack of a comprehensive bibliography of genealogical material, which, if it existed, would be of great help in their researches. I have endeavored to fill part of this gap with 'A Guide to Surrey Genealogy and Records' (WSFHS RA32 2nd edition, 1997), and now continue with this guide to Middlesex. This bibliography complements, rather than rivals, works by Stuart Raymond and Heather Creaton. The latter (H. Creaton, 'Bibliography of printed works on London history to 1939', 1994) is a massive and expensive work which however valuable, cannot be readily available (for cost reasons if no other) to the average genealogist. Raymond's 'London and Middlesex: a genealogical bibliography' (Federation of Family History Societies, 1994) deals with a number of subjects in much greater detail than I have attempted here - but this booklet covers more subjects and it is hoped that that its strictly alphabetical arrangement will appeal to beginners. 37pp., Booklet, 6" x 8.5" ,1995, ISSN 0261-5673.
