Red Drouin Dictionnaire National des Canadiens Francais (1608-1760) (National Dictionary of French Canadians 1608-1760) is commonly known as the Red Drouin. The work includes more than fifty years of research and careful transcription to accumulate more than 2,000,000 records.

This CD contains an alphabetical listing of marriages primarily from Quebec. Ancestral occupations, family histories (English and French), Prefaces (English and French, and corrections (1978, 1979, 1985).

The pages of the original Red Drouin book have been scanned and presented here just as they appear in the book. The pages are in PDF format and therefore readable on both PC and Mac computers.

This CD contains every page of all three volumes of the original work.
  • Volumes one and two contain abstracts of marriage records from Quebec, listed in alphabetical order

      Marriage records include:
      • Names of bride and groom
      • Names of the parents of both the bride and the groom
      • Date of the marriage
      • Place of marriage
      • Many records also include the parish of origin or the residence of the principles
      • On marriage of first person who came to Canada, place of origin is also listed.

  • Volume three contains historical notes, coats of arms, and signatures....
Much of the content of this resource is in French, with some English entires. Because of the genealogical nature of the work it is not difficult to decipher. "Google's translate tool" can help you translate entries and/or words that you are not familiar with.

The CD is a stand alone product which runs on Adobe Acrobat (pdf) reader which is installed on most computer world-wide. If you don't have Acrobat Reader on your computer you can download it for free. Runs on PC, Mac and any other computer that has an Adobe Arcrobat reader installed.
