BOOK - Index to 1891 Census Vaughan Townships Including Woodbridge, York County, Ontario-
Compiled by: Ruth M. Burkholder.

Vaughan township is the middle township on the west side of York county, bounded by York township on the south and King township on the north. Albion and Toronto Gore townships in Peel County are to the west, while the eastern boundary is the centre of Yonge Street. Nestled near the south west corner is the village of Woodbridge which was enumerated separately in 1891.

In 1891 there were approximately 5,293 residents in the township and 852 in the village of which 2,384 are listed in this volume. The index lists all heads of household members [over 14] who have an occupation listed or have a different surname from the head of the house.
