By: Trudy Mann and Jan Speers. This index has been prepared by Township and furthur divided if the township was divided, such as in Chinguacousy and Toronto. When an ancestor is found, the name should be checked against the map as there are often lots that surround each other with which the person can be connected. To confirm further that the information on maps is accurate, the appropriate lot should be checked with the land abstracts at the Ontario Archives or through Land Registry, Peel Co. Wills can also substantiate land ownership. We are suggesting this additional checking as spelling is not always accurate, but has been recorded as printed in the Atlas.
