Marriage Registrations in Ontario began on July 1, 1869. However, the province-wide nominal index does not actually begin for most counties or districts until 1874. Without this finding aid, the marriages for the period of 1869 to 1873 are often overlooked or difficult to track down, especially for researchers located outside of Ontario.

The compiled registrations make these marriage records more readily accessible to researchers everywhere. The information, where provided, includes the names of bride & groom, ages, profession (of groom), parents, location & date of marriage, and names of witnesses.
