BOOK - On Tap - The Odyssey of Beer and Brewing in Victorian London-Middlesex
By Glen C. Phillips

Good beer and great history go well together and that's why historian and beer-lover Glen C. Phillips has written On Tap: The Odyssey of Beer and Brewing in Victorian London-Middlesex.

A lively narrative and a stunning array of over 140 rare archival images will take readers on a fascinating trip back in time. Through its pages, you'll join the Labatt and Carling families as they forge their beer empires, discover how lager brewing boosted Strathroy's fortunes, visit dozens of other historic breweries that once dotted the county's landscape and watch as the great temperance crusade changed the whole ball game.

A celebration of the area's proud brewing heritage, this book is for beer fans, those who work or have worked in the beer industry, local history buffs and brewery memorabilia collectors alike.

About the author:
A native of Sarnia, Ontario, Glen C. Phillips has been appreciating beer and its history for well over half his life. Aside from being a big fan of crisp lagers, dark ales, porters and stouts - he likes them all - he also collects old brewery artifacts and has amassed several cubic feet of research material on Canada's historic brewing scene. Glen holds an Honours BA and a Masters degree in history from the University of Western Ontario. He distinguished his undergraduate record by receiving Huron College's A.E. Read Book Prize in 1994 and the Robert Laverne Eagleson Gold Medal for graduating from University of Western Ontario's history program with the highest fourth-year average in 1995. Glen is married to Dr. Crystal Fulton and has lived in Dublin, Ireland, the home of the world's most famous stout, Guinness.
