The original/complete title of the book was History of Leeds and Grenville Ontario, From 1749 to 1879, with Illustrations and Biographical Sketches of Some of its Prominent Men and Pioneers
The book was originally published in 1879. It is the best reference/local history/biographical record of the early history and families of Leeds & Grenville Counties that we know of.
Filled with the history of the area from prior to European settlement, to visitations by explorers, to early settlement by those who had supported the British during the American Revolutionary war, to the development and settlement of the community during the 19th century.
The book contains a large number of family sketches and biographical information for many local individuals. Illustrations of the people, homes and places within the community breath additional life into this fine work.
