BOOK - A Narrative of the Rise and Progress of Emigration from the Counties of Lanark and Renfrew to the New Settlements in Upper Canada
By Robert Lamond
Origially published in 1821
This edition printed by Canadian Heritage Publications 1978 (NOS)

Emigration from the Counties of Lanark and Renfrew.

The full title of this marvelous paperback is: A Narrative of the Rise and Progress of Emigration from the Counties of Lanark and Renfrew to the New Settlements in Upper Canada, on government grant; Comprising the Proceedings of the Glasgow Committee for directing the affairs and emarkation of the societies with a map of the Townships, Designs for Cottages and A Plan of the Ship Earl of Buckinghamshire, also, interesting Letters from the Settlements.

Originally published in Glasgow, Scotland in 1821, we are very fortunate that Canadian Heritage Publications saw fit to compile this Facsimile Edition in 1978. Even the original fold out map of The Townships, Upper Canada from Montreal on the St. Lawrence to Lake Ontario has been reproduced and included.

This book is filled with first hand accounts and observations of those brave pioneers who set out from Scotland to a new life in the wilds of early Upper Canada. If you ever wanted to know what life was like as an early settler in eastern Ontario, and what was involved in the emigration from Larkshire and Renfrewshire counties in Scotland, this book is for you.
