BOOK - James McMasters & Family: To Quinte & Beyond
By Brian Tackaberry, UE.

Following the American Revolution, thousands of men, women and children abandoned their homes and families in the thirteen colonies and fled to territories still under the British flag. Many of these United Empire Loyalists, including James McMasters, were granted lands in the Bay of Quinte area where they established prosperous farms and raised thriving families.

Finkle, Bonisteel, Lawrence, Clindinnin, Jones, Snelgrove, Kelly and Ireland are some of the surnames that stand out amoung the 4000 descendants of James and Mary McMasters. Brian Tackaberry has meticulously documented the lives of his extensive Loyalist family, tracing them from their ancestoral home in Eastern Ontario, where many still live, to the far-flung corners of North America.
