BOOK - North of the 15th, A Nassagaweya History
By Nassagaweya Historical Society

On the far western boundary of Halton County, Ontario was Nasagiweya Township (as it was originally spelled), the last of four townships -- Nelson, Trafalgar, Esquesing and Nasagiweya -- to be settled. Situated far from the shore of Lake Ontario, Nasagiweya couldn't boast any bustling harbours of lakeside towns. It was only crossed by one rail line through Campbellville, but its quaint rural countryside, farms and small hamlets still enchant and delight visitors and residents.

Nasagiweya is still liberally sprinkled with its living history: original churches, schoolhouses, barns, and businesses boast many pioneer descendants residing and working in the area, half a dozen generations beyond first settlement.

Even though their efforts were intense, hardy visionaries can rest assured that their dreams were fulfilled -- they created a township with a vibrant history.

The production of North of The 15th has been a combined effort of the Nasagiweya Historical Society. The accumulation of anecdotes, research and photo archives have been painstakingly gathered over 20 years.
