Books, Maps & Other Resources Halton County, Ontario Genealogy & History More Canadian Resources | More Ontario Resources More Halton County Resources BOOK - Roman Catholic Births Marriages and Deaths in Halton and Peel Counties 1830's to 1850's. From St. Augustine, Dundas Records. By: Trudy Mann.
Visits by the Priests of St. Augustine into Halton County were made on an irregular basis in the 1820's. During the 1820's and early 1830's Father Gordon from Wildfield, Toronto Gore Township was busy serving the Catholics of Halton and Peel County. In the 1830's through the 50's services were held on a more regular basis by St. Augustine Priests at a number of locations. Oakville, Nelson, Milton, Trafalgar(Church on the 9th line), and Springfeild and Streetsville in Peel County are some of the main sites. When a baptism, etc. was added into the registers it appears the place shown was here the sacrament took place and not the residence of the family. It should be noted that priest may have not been in the area at the time of need and someone at Streetsville, for example may have gone to Trafalgar if they knew the Priest was there. Therefore a Peel resident may be in the Trafalgar list. Soft Cover, Coil Bound, 50pgs
