BOOK - 1861 Census, City of Kingston, Frontenac County (Ontario, Canada). By Russ Waller, U.E.
This transcription took several months to produce and was started after an abortive attempt to research individuals in the almost impossible to read 1861 census microfilm for the City of Kingston.
A later check in the 1871 Census indicated that a significant number of settlers stayed 10 years or more in the area. Over two thirds of the residents of the city in 1861 were recent immigrants, with half of those coming from Ireland.
The city, in fact, was predominantly Irish Roman Catholic. With addition of information gleaned from other Census and other published family research materials it was possible to update the 1861 Census and make it more genealogically relevant.
Contains names, age, sex, birthplace, religion, occupation (where noted) townships and sources.
8 1/2 x 11, cerlox bound, 262 pgs.
