BOOKS - Indexes to Historical Atlas of Elgin County 1877 (H R Page)
By Duncan McKillop, Richard Cartwright, Jane Hughes. Compiled by the Talbot Settlement Heritage Society. In 1877, the H. R. Page company assembled and published a comprehensive Atlas of Elgin County. That atlas contained township maps with the names of the landholders noted on each property, family sketches, pictures of prominent people, pictures of homes, farms and businesses. The books in this series provide copies of the maps from that original atlas, an index and other valuable information including a brief background history of the township and a copy of the township map showing early settlers on each lot and concession, a dependable and complete index with names listed by Lot and Concession, and then names listed alphabetically. Though this is a tremendous tool for those with access to the original atlas, each volume is valuable as stand-alone reference source for those with an interest in the early families of Elgin County Townships abt 35 pp ea/8.5" X 11"/cerlox bound.
