The 1851 census of Prince Edward County does not survive in its entirety. Parts of the following townships do survive and are included in this publication:
  • Ameliasburgh
  • Hallowell
  • Hillier
Some of the 1851 Census for Prince Edward County was actually taken in the early spring of 1852.

Information recorded in the 1851 census includes:
  • Number of the entry
  • Surname
  • Given names
  • Age
  • Single, married or widow/widowed
  • Place of birth
  • Religion
  • Occupation

  • The column on the extreme right of the page is for additional comments made by the enumerator. This sometimes includes the place of residence if the person did not live in that township, and sometimes includes other information such as deaths that occurred during that year, etc.
A full listing of all of the information in the above categories appears in this book for all persons within each household, plus the microfilm reference number.

179 pgs. 8-1/2 x 11, printed on acid-free paper, coil bound (pvc), index, map. ISBN (2005 printing) 1-894571-98-3
