During the years leading up the first printing of this book in 1927, the author used a combination of rare documents that were held privately by his family, and extensive research at the National Archives in Ottawa to assemble this history of the events that led to a back-woods village becoming what was known at time as The Dominion of Canada. He had much able assistance with his research including help from the Honourable Senator Andrew Haydon and many other household names in Canadian historical research at the begining of the 20th century.
