BOOK - Finding Your Ancestors in Manitoba
By Laura Hanowski.
The author takes the reader through the "5 W" approach to help researchers define their goals and look for sources that may have been overlooked.
The "5 W"s answered in Finding Your Ancestors in Manitoba: - Who are you looking for
- Where did the ancestor live in Manitoba
- Where did they live
- What records were created
- Why were the records created.
About the author:
Laura M. Hanowski was librarian for the Saskatchewan Genealogical Society (SGS) until 2002. During this time she presented workshops for SOS, and made presentations at seminars throughout Canada, the US and Ukraine. As Education Co-ordinator for SOS she developed certification classes for the Saskatchewan Record Searcher class, the Saskatchewan Researcher class and the Saskatchewan Instructor class. Laura is currently the Education Co-ordinator for SGS and is teaching classes to help Aboriginal people trace their ancestry. For the past 15 years she has written many articles for Saskatchewan Genealogical Society Bulletin and served as editor of Tracing Your Saskatchewan Ancestors: A Guide to the Records and Where to Find Them.
