The elder John Loney, the eldest generation detailed in this text, was an Irishman who came to America just before or during the Seven Years War (1756-1763). His son, also John Loney (1748-1801 served in the King's Royal Regiment of New York and was previously the village shoemaker in Johnstown New York, the hometown of Sir John Johnson and his brother Sir William Johnson
The book details the life and connections of John Loney the shoemaker, his connections to the Loyalist cause during the American Revolution and a generation by generation genealogy of his descendants.
