History

The Archives opened in 2002.  The concept of an archival depository,
accessible to the general public, for all genealogical and historical
documents pertaining to Lanark County, developed after the Province of
Ontario accepted a proposal from the Lanark County Genealogical
Society to preserve the Land Records for posterity.

Who uses the Archives?

Any one interested in genealogy and the history of Lanark County.  Local
historians, school children, church groups and family members looking for
long lost relatives come from all over Canada, the USA and as far away
as Europe.  Each year over 250 people visit the Archives.

Resource Materials
