William McDONALD, born in Scotland and emigrated to Quebec before 1829;
arrived in this area about 1840. The family eventually settled on Lot 5,
Concession 5, Lanark Twp. William was the father of John M. McDONALD who
was born in Quebec (Pointe Lewis?) in 1828 or 1829 and died in Lanark
Twp. Feb. 4, 1913. Other children of William's alive in 1813 were Alex.
in Putnam, Conn.; Donald,in Gilbert Plains, Man.; James, at Lansdowne;
Angus, at Winnipeg; Mrs. MUNSON, at Fordwich; Mrs. HAMILTON, Gilbert
Plains; Mrs. Jas. WRIGHT, at Lakelet, Ont.



Looking for the following information:
* Looking for any further information on William - year of birth, name of
wife, year of death, where he is buried."
* Is he related to John M'DONALD, author of "Narrative of a voyage to
Quebec, and journey from thence to New Lanark, in Upper Canada,"
published by E. Macquistan, 1823 - a copy of which exists in the old
McDonald homestead?
